Well, as of Sunday, September 19th, I finished the first draft of "If Man Were Meant to Fly".

And I finished 50,000 words of it for AugNoWriMo, for what that's worth.

I'm waiting a month to get some perspective on it and then I'll start the first round of revisions. Some of my friends are proofreading it too, a task I do not envy.

Doing this has changed how I feel about myself as a writer. I am committed now. I know I can write a multi-hundred page manuscript with a through-line plot. Whether or not it's any good is up to further review, but I know I can do it. And if I keep an open mind, I know I can only improve.

So, thanks to my proofreaders. Thanks to everyone who's been supportive and tolerated me talking about "my novel" at get-togethers and online. And thank you to all my teachers for making me write well, beyond just correctly.
