It's the fourth Thor's Day in November, which means it's Thanksgiving in America. For many, that means building one of two things: either the appreciation for what one has, or the anticipation for what one does not yet have.
For RandomFans, it means both.
After a record four months of pretty much nothing going on at the ItsJustSomeRandomGuy channel on YouTube (that is, video-wise; that 'Occupy RandomGuy' campaign was pretty entertaining), a couple of new RandomVids have finally been posted over the last two days! First, RandomGuy literally broke the silence by posting an actual video of himself, verbally addressing his fans face-to-...screen, for the very first time since joining YouTube nearly five years ago. Promising more to come, including a Marvel/DC video for the next day, it was a short but sweet message of appreciation for the patience for his devoted fans. Seeing the comments for the video, it looks like those fans are just as thankful, both for the 117 videos already on the channel, as well as the return of a long-time favorite channel showing up in subscription boxes.
As promised, the second new Marvel/DC video was posted yesterday, just in time for the holiday. See it below:
Short, sweet, classic Marvel/DC. Gotta love the new action figures on display. Gotta love the humor. This is what RandomFans have been waiting for. This is what RandomFans are thankful for. And this is what RandomFans are looking forward to. Happy Thanksgiving, RandomFans. See you tomorrow.
Well, it's a Monday night in June. It's been quite an eventful weekend in the RandomVerse, and I haven't blogged one bit about it. I wonder if you even know everything Random-related that happened since last Friday night! Hint: there's more than one.
THE REYNOLDSING... IT OVERPOWERS ME...
As RandomFans, you should at least know that ItsJustSomeRandomGuy and Gal posted their relatively-not-as-long-awaited Green Lantern vs. The Critics video last Friday. I've gone longer than four days before blogging about them posting a video before, but I still feel bad about it this time. This whole job thing is totally cramping my RandomStyle! Anyway, check the new video out again (since I'm trusting you've seen it already) in the link or below!
I don't know about you, but it's kind of a letdown when the most highly anticipated DC movie of the year turns out to be disappointing both movie critics and moviegoers alike in just its first week. While that sort of just happened last year with DC's last movie, I don't think this level of disappointment has been reached since, well, the other DC movie they mentioned in this video. It kind of becomes a damper on this video. Oh well. Just watch the Deadpool parts. =P
Take two down, pass it around...
The new video marks the 127th video by the Randoms! And yes, I've gone over this before--I do count the Ontario PGA Golf Show video that they made in 2008 in the final tally. Lance is in it, after all. Yay, 127! There's a James Franco's right arm joke in there somewhere.
But, Tim! I count only 124 videos on the ItsJustSomeRandomGuy YouTube channel! When adding the video in the ONTPGA channel, that only makes 125! What happened? Is it "Add Two To Everything Day"? I must not be on the mailing list!
Alas, it's true. Currently there are only 125 RandomVids available online right now. The reason? Someone hacked into RandomGuy's account and stole two of them! Oh no! Call Interpol! Or the Internet equivalent! The Interquivalent? Where's Max_Mod when you need 'im? Ahhh!!! Naw, just kidding. Rather, in good ol' Disney Vault fashion, our lovely YouTubers have resorted to the privatization of two videos, which just happen to also be a couple of fan favorites. Can you figure out which videos they are? Name your guesses in the comments box! The first to name both gets a prize!
Thus dawns a new era. An era in which the Randoms have officially expressed and exercised their right to snatch away what we once (or on multiple times) enjoyed. An era in which the true cost of making awesome videos free to watch can now be more deeply felt. An era in which perhaps much whining is in order. What shall this new era bring? One can only ponder. And complain.
To eat! Tweet!
Lastly but not leastly (don't copy that--it's not a word), the Internet exploded with a flurry of activity on this thing called, um, Twitter, or something? I don't know. It's supposedly a web page that you can visit if you have an Internet connection... It probably isn't all that big. There are only like 20 people on the Internet anyway.
Well, it's suddenly March again, and we're suddenly into the fifth year of ItsJustSomeRandomGuy's existence on YouTube. We've recently spent a couple of months looking back at the past year, the fourth year since Mike and Brinna put together their first videos on YouTube in 2007. It was certainly fun to review and consider all that happened during 2010, and I would encourage you to watch the Randys again if you'd like.
But since we've done all of that, let's look ahead to this coming year for a change! Below are five things that the ItsJustSomeRandomGuy channel's fifth year should bring:
As the 2010 RandomAwards show approaches, it's about time that we here at www.randomfans.com reveal the finalists for the 2010 Mash-Up Tribute Video Contest, which we posted at the end of November last year. Below are the two finalists!
Hello! spideymouse here. I hope you're all enjoying the first few days of the fresh new decade. Yep, technically it's the beginning of the 10s, since they didn't believe in the number zero back when they were reassigning dates. (Good thing we do now, or else we'd be talking about One Hour, which is much less intriguing than the current season of Marvel/DC.) Some of you are reflecting on the year we've left behind, cherishing memories and appreciating loved ones. Some of you are taking the time to think ahead, making resolutions about your lives, your relationships, and your responsibilities.
Or, if you're like me, maybe you're thinking about the 2010 RandomAwards next month! Ah yes, the Randys. That time when the RandomVerse sits back and awards the highlights of the past year. But before zero hour strikes at 9PM EST / 6pm PST, Tuesday, February 8th, we RandomFans have something special to do first...
January's the New November: Vote!
Vote there! --->While December's Nomination Process for the 2010 Randys is officially over, January's Voting Process has just begun! If you take a look at the right side of the page, you'll notice a special poll that will be there all throughout January. This is the voting poll for the 2010 Randys!
The rules are as follows: You must be a registered RandomFan to vote. You may vote once every seven days from January 1st to January 31st. Thus, the maximum number of votes you have is four, as long as you vote every week starting this week. If you want more space and don't want to use the sidebar poll, you may use the poll at the end of this article after the jump. Again, Happy New Year and happy voting!
It's that time of year again. For many, it's a time to anticipate gifts to open, warm hearts, and good company. For others, it's a time to dread inevitable stress, conflict, or loneliness. For RandomFans, it's a time to chat, NOMINATE for the Randys, and continue to not stop believin'.
And for the past three years, it's been a time to watch some pretty freaking awesome Marvel/DC videos.
As Nomination Month for the 2010 Randys has kicked off with great success (post your noms here!), several RandomFans unfamiliar with this site have asked what the new "Best MLIR" category is.
The short answer is that MLIR stands for My Life Is Random. The slightly longer answer is that MLIR is a riff off of www.mylifeistwilight.com, a blog where Twilight fans describe some of the more extreme and ridiculous ways the book series have affected their everyday lives. After a broadcast in which the Randoms were exposed to this site, RandomFans came up with its own version here on RandomFans.com. It's been great fun, and continues to be a highlight of the ever-expanding RandomFandom.
So as you post your nominations, make sure to educate yourself and review the MLIR thread HERE.
