Well, it's suddenly March again, and we're suddenly into the fifth year of ItsJustSomeRandomGuy's existence on YouTube. We've recently spent a couple of months looking back at the past year, the fourth year since Mike and Brinna put together their first videos on YouTube in 2007. It was certainly fun to review and consider all that happened during 2010, and I would encourage you to watch the Randys again if you'd like. But since we've done all of that, let's look ahead to this coming year for a change! Below are five things that the ItsJustSomeRandomGuy channel's fifth year should bring: 1. Hi, I'm a Marvel...and I'm a DC: Round Five Although the Randoms broadened their frontiers immensely with different and original types of parody videos last year, their bread and butter will probably still be their "Hi, I'm a Marvel...and I'm a DC" videos for the foreseeable future. Given the relative lack of big comic book movie blockbusters last year, Round Four was understandably the shortest and least conventional round to date. But 2011 sees four major Marvel and DC movies coming to the silver screen, making Round Five possibly the most highly anticipated ItsJustSomeRandomGuy series of the year. With Thor kicking off in early May, Green Lantern and X-Men: First Class joining in during the following month, and Captain America rounding out the summer in late July, this summer promises to be the biggest and longest comic book movie season since 2008. And while Batman handily took down all of them--Iron Man, Hulk, and Hellboy (and Wanted, and Hancock)--as the DC's lone poster boy that year, it looks like Team Hal is going to have to ramp up the willpower against his three Marvel counterparts. What to look forward to: Thor's first speaking role... Professor X and/or Magneto NOT playing chess or playing Guitar Hero... Captain America's new lease on life... Villains Edition?... 2. Marvel/DC Season Three: Zero Hour Now that we've spent a year figuring out what happened to Lance's head and everything surrounding Plan Q, Marvel/DC Season Three: Zero Hour has some pretty epic plot lines starting to shape up. At the turn of the decade, we saw Gobby and Deadpool getting sent back to the present to get sane pretty G**damn fast and warn the heroes of the imminent danger ahead of them. Besides this main storyline, there are still plenty of questions left to be answered regarding several, if not all characters in the RandomVerse, past, present, and future. Of course, a big question is just how far, how wide, and how long could this season go? What to look forward to: More Gobby and Deadpool goodness... Joker's reappearance... The extent of Iron Man's involvement... The revelation of Joe Palacci... Continuity! Boom?... 3. Rorschach and Deadpool A major thing to look forward to from Zero Hour is the continuation of the Rorschach and Deadpool Buddy Cop Parody spin-off series, which was revealed to be in-continuity with its incorporation in ZH2 and the reference to Joe Palacci in ZH4. That said, Deadpool has had quite a busy busy year starring in several videos without his buddy Rorschach, and one might wonder how a recent Randy win for Best Character, a visit to a post-apocalyptic future, and extended exposure to the Green Goblin might affect their relationship. However, my guess is that it won't change a thing. What to look forward to: A deepening friendship full of laughter and mutual respect. And guns. 4. Marvel/DC Season Four The question here is whether Season Three will even conclude in 2011. Since it's already March, it's very probable that Zero Hour won't end before Round Five hammers its way into our lives in May. And while Zero Hour episodes could be sprinkled into the busy summer movie season, there's no guarantee that it won't bleed into fall or even winter. Still, on the off chance that Season Four could start within the next 12 months, why not dream big? Superman and Lex Luthor were in the spotlight for Season One. Spider-Man, Batman, Gobby, and the Joker took to the main stage in Season Two. Season Three has spent time focusing on several notable heroes and villains all across the RandomVerse's time and space. Who could star in Season Four? Perhaps the upcoming movie stars of Round Five? Something completely different? Edward Cullen? What to look forward to: Incredible storytelling... Culturally relevant underlying themes... Hilarity... A Marvel character as the main villain?... Goblin Bloggin' Don't look now, but not a single one of the videos that ItsJustSomeRandomGuy and Gal made in the past year was a Goblin Bloggin' video! Didn't notice? Well, Gobby's been all over the place in the events of Zero Hour, so it's not like we haven't seen good ol' Norm enough. Anyway, the recent pattern has been for Gobby to blog in between Hours seasons, so it's logical to assume that Season Three has kept him slightly busy. Still, I was definitely with the proponents of a Goblin Bloggin' during the future timeline. At any rate, it's highly unlikely that this fan-favorite series will spend another year in purgatory, so try to rest easy. Your Goblin Bloggin' fix should come eventually. Meanwhile, Off-screen Harry is still... off screen. With two hyenas in his room. What to look forward to: Gobby/Harley relationship gossip... Gobby's take on--anything and everything... Singing... DAFOE... So! What are YOU looking forward to the most?
